Conferences on
Language and Communication

Each year since 1982 the Center for Research and Documentation on World Language Problems (CRD) has organized a Conference on Language and Communication in conjunction with the Translation Division of the United Nations (New York). These conferences represent, to the best of our knowledge, the only regular forum in which the linguistic practices of the UN and other actors and institutions of the international community are subjected to scholarly scrutiny and reflection. Participants normally include Secretariat staff, members of various governmental and non-governmental delegations, and university faculty from a range of disciplines.

For most of the early years CRD published annual conference reports, with all papers given at the conference in question. These volumes are available at $7 each postpaid. Titles are:

The Center now publishes, in cooperation with University Press of America, a series of Occasional Papers, containing major papers from the conferences. Some free copies of the following three volumes are available to libraries from CRD; others may be purchased at the price shown.
